Making it Matter in Canton, OH: An Amazing First Year

There were Uniformed American Heroes from the Military, Police, Firefighters and First Responders. There were proud Veterans from as far back as WWII, and plenty still on active duty from every branch. We celebrated birthdays of all our Armed Forces. Were honored to receive cherished mementos and artifacts, like our POW chair donated by Rolling Thunder Chapter 2. And then there was “Ruger,” sworn in with yips and barks.

Our first year in Canton, Ohio was marked by warm welcomes from a caring community. Through the generous participation of Our Customers supporting the American Heroes Cup program and other charitable events, we were able to raise funds that made a real difference. Through food drops to area police stations, firehouses and EMT facilities, we made many new friends. Especially the newest member of our local K-9 Corps, who loudly showed his appreciation for a PetSmart Gift Card donated by an area EMT organization. We were also able to help equip his K-9 cruiser!

We have a motto around here: “It’s bigger than BBQ.” Which are words to live by every time we’re fortunate enough to honor a hero like WWII Navy Veteran Burt Vogel, who regularly visits us several times a week. Or Vietnam Vet Fred Lang, considered an honorary teammate volunteering to take pictures on special days. But then again, they’re all special — whether participating in ceremonies like “Wreaths Across America,” feeding someone from the “Greatest Generation” or showing our appreciation for those who Protect, Serve and Save to this day.

Our Mission Is To Serve, and we are proud to do it here in Canton. We look ahead to being there for you every day going forward.
