MISSION BBQ—a Glen Burnie eatery specializing in ribs, pulled pork and plenty of “Bay-B-Que” sauce—will open a second restaurant, this one in Perry Hall, in November.

The 3,500-square-foot eatery on Joppa Road will seat 90 customers, with more tables on an outdoor patio as well.

MISSION BBQ owners Bill Kraus and Steve Newton opened their first location on Sept. 11, 2011, and Kraus said they have aggressive plans to expand into the rest of the state after establishing their second restaurant.

“We’ll see where the path takes us from here,” Kraus said.

MISSION BBQ’s owners donate part of the restaurant’s proceeds to the Wounded Warrior Project, which provides programs and services to severely injured service members as they transition to civilian life. Kraus—whose father and sons are in the military—said this, along with the restaurant’s fare, makes it a popular spot.

“There’s nothing more American than barbecue,” Kraus said. “What we’re finding is people are very passionate about our food and they’re very emotional about our story.”

MISSION BBQ was named among the “Best of Baltimore” by Baltimore magazine.

Kraus said he will look to hire between 30 and 40 employees for the new restaurant in managerial, front-of-the-house and back-of-the-house positions.
