5/16/20: Special Operations Warrior Foundation Check Presentation

Brandon, FL: On Saturday, May 16, MISSION BBQ will present a donation of $209,064 to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. This donation was made possible by the generous support of their Customers every time they purchased an American Heroes Cup during 2018. Available at 14 locations throughout Florida, $2 from the purchase of an American Heroes Cup contributed to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. MISSION BBQ co-founder Bill Kraus will be presenting the check to President and CEO, Major General Clay Hutmacher, USA, retired at the Brandon location.

The partnership between Special Operations Warrior Foundation and MISSION BBQ began in December 2015 and this year’s donation will contribute to a total of over $812,000 for the foundation. Co-founders Bill Kraus and Steve Newton could not be prouder to support the national military charity. “The Mission of MISSION BBQ is to Serve, Honor and Thank our American Heroes. In Serving, we give back and are Proud to do our part for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation,” said Bill Kraus.

MISSION BBQ invites the community to celebrate at the Brandon location: 1504 W Brandon Blvd. Brandon, FL 33511. The check presentation starts at noon with a live singing of the National Anthem.

Special Operations Warrior Foundation was started in 1980 with a battlefield promise to provide college educations for the 17 children left behind by the eight men killed during the daring attempt to rescue the American hostages being held in Iran. MISSION BBQ donates $25,504 to Wounded Warrior Project

Jacksonville, FL: On Saturday, May 16, MISSION BBQ presented a donation of $25,504 to Wounded Warrior Project®(WWP). This donation was made possible by the generous support of their Customers when they purchased an American Heroes Cup during the 2019-2020 period. Available at the Orange Park and St. John’s Town Center locations, $2 from the purchase of an American Heroes Cup contributed to WWP. The check will be presented to Jessie Carzoli and Andrew Coughlan of WWP.

The partnership between WWP and MISSION BBQ began in 2011. MISSION BBQ was able to donate $31,022 in 2019, which was made possible by the generosity of their Customers. “The Mission of MISSION BBQ is to Serve, Honor and Thank our American Heroes. In Serving, we give back and are Proud to do our part for Wounded Warrior Project,” said Bill Kraus and Steve Newton, co-founders of MISSION BBQ.

Through their support at the community level, MISSION BBQ is directly supporting WWP programs and services in mental and physical health and wellness, employment and education assistance, and many other services, all of which are free of charge to warriors.

“The generous support from MISSION BBQ and their customers is empowering warriors and their families, including through virtual programs and services during the coronavirus pandemic,” said WWP Chief Development Officer Gary Corless. “We can’t thank MISSION BBQ enough for continuing to honor injured veterans and their families.”

MISSION BBQ donates $69,210 to Navy SEAL Foundation

Virginia Beach, VA: On Saturday, May 16, MISSION BBQ presented a donation of $69,210 to the Navy SEAL Foundation, the Virginia Beach-based national non-profit that serves the Naval Special Warfare community and its families. This donation was made possible by the generous support of their customers through the purchase of American Heroes Cups during the 2019 - 2020 period. Available at 5 MISSION BBQ locations in the Hampton Roads area, $2 from the purchase of an American Heroes Cup is donated to the Navy SEAL Foundation. Phil Boyer, Regional Director of Operations with MISSION BBQ will be presenting the check to Sara Berry, Director of Marketing and Communications for the Foundation. 

The collaboration between MISSION BBQ and the Navy SEAL Foundation began in March 2016 and this year’s donation will contribute to a total of over $270,000 for the non-profit organization. Co-founders Bill Kraus and Steve Newton could not be prouder to support the national military charity. “It’s our honor and privilege to Serve and Support such a respected and giving organization like the Navy SEAL Foundation. Their volunteers, programs, and dedicated efforts have tirelessly supported America’s Heroes,” said Steve Newton.

MISSION BBQ opened its 93rd location in Mentor, OH on Monday, February 17. This location is the fourth in Ohio for the restaurant known for its traditional American BBQ with a hefty side of patriotism. The event began at 12 noon with the singing of Our National Anthem performed live by a local Uniformed American Hero. The ribbon cutting ceremony followed immediately afterwards. 

The Mentor opening is very personal and emotional for co-founder Steve Newton, born and raised in Columbus. He couldn’t be any prouder than to be bringing a fourth MISSION BBQ home to the Buckeye State. MISSION BBQ continues to expand throughout the eastern half of the United States with a targeted goal of 150 restaurants by the end of 2021.

As is tradition with the opening of every MISSION BBQ, the Mentor location hosted charity nights throughout the week leading up to the Grand Opening with all sales donated to organizations chosen by local fire and police departments in the Mentor Community, as well as the USO of Northern Ohio.

2/4/20: Wreath Across America Check Presentation

MISSION BBQ announced the donation of $350,420 to Wreaths Across America (WAA).

This contribution was made possible thanks to the generosity of Our Customers and their support of the American Heroes Cups. The donation will help to sponsor over 23,000 veterans’ wreaths to remember our fallen U.S. service members during the 2020 holiday season. 

Wreaths Across America is best known for its annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, their mission is to Remember our fallen U.S. veterans, Honor those who serve and Teach the next generation the value of freedom. In addition to Arlington National Cemetery, Wreaths Across America coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies at more than 2,100 locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad. 

“The team at MISSION BBQ demonstrate how everyone can play a part in the communities where they live and work. For co-founders Bill Kraus and Steve Newton, the opening of another Maryland location brings the growth of MISSION BBQ full circle. “We remain proud and humble to serve yet another community in our home state,” states Kraus. “We never want to forget where we came from.” MISSION BBQ continues to expand throughout the eastern half of the United States with current plans to end 2019 with over 95 units of operation.  

As is tradition with the opening of every MISSION BBQ, the Germantown location will host charity nights throughout the week leading up to the Grand Opening. An open to the public Military Appreciation Night will be held on Friday, January 24th from 6 to 9 pm with all sales donated to the USO of Washington-Baltimore Metropolitan.
