Michael Strange joined the US Navy in 2004 against the wishes of his father but Michael wanted to get out of the neighborhood and see the world. He was set on his plan so his dad, Charles, came around and Michael became a Navy Cryptologist. “Michael would always tell us he was sitting behind a desk and in front of a computer and not to worry. To find out, Michael in Iraq, every other night was going out on a mission,” Charles said. On August 6, 2011 Petty Officer 1st Class Michael Strange was killed in action. Through his unimaginable grief, Charles found a new mission to help his fellow Gold Star Families heal by connecting and talking about their heroes.
