Remembering Those Who Gave All

Memorial Day

It is our most solemn American holiday, remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice while defending our nation. Originating after the Civil War, Memorial Day was first known as “Decoration Day” — designated for decorating soldier’s graves from our country’s bloodiest chapter, with over 600,000 killed in action. During WWI, we began commemorating U.S. military who died in ALL wars. In 1971, it became an official federal holiday.

Black AHCYOU did it. Your generous support of the American Heroes Cup program helped MISSION BBQ raise $35,348 for the Navy Seal Foundation. This vital national non-profit serves the Naval Special Warfare community and its families — and we were honored to present them with a check that you made possible on May 27. Thank you!

Honoring Our Fallen Police Officers

Today is Peace Officer’s Memorial Day — paying much deserved tribute to all local, state and Federal peace officers who died in the line of duty. Since 1962, when President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as a national day of observance, America has paid special recognition to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety and protection of others.

Warminster, Pennsylvania warmly welcomed MISSION BBQ to its 50th location on May 15. Historic Warminster is the 5th location in the Greater Philadelphia area. It is also our eighth restaurant in the Commonwealth, and we could not be more honored to be here. Even before officially opening our doors, this generous community has shown its support to its local heroes.

Armed Forces Week: Because One Day Isn’t Enough To Thank You

AFWArmed Forces Day is next Saturday, May 20. So we’re honoring all active duty service members and veterans from every branch of the military with FREE sandwiches this week. On Monday through Friday, it’s like Veteran’s Day in May ALL WEEK with a special day dedicated to the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Suzanne Scheafer SoS Blog 100x100The knock on the door came at 1:12 a.m. on Dec. 31, 2013. William C. “Billy” Trapnell IV, a petty officer with Coast Guard Sector Boston, had died. Enlisted at 17, he served for six years as an Army Ranger—including a tour in Iraq—before joining the Coast Guard.
